The Engineer

I'm a passionate software engineer with nearly two decades of experience building scalable systems and leading engineering teams. My expertise spans from microservices architecture to cloud infrastructure, with a particular focus on creating robust, maintainable solutions.

Throughout my career, I've worked with cutting-edge technologies and methodologies, always striving to push the boundaries of what's possible in software development. I believe in writing clean, efficient code that not only solves problems but does so elegantly.

I've embraced the transformative power of AI/ML technologies, especially Large Language Models, to enhance my development workflow. By leveraging these cutting-edge tools, I'm able to accelerate my learning process, automate routine coding tasks, and focus more deeply on complex architectural challenges. This approach has not only improved my productivity but also expanded my ability to explore innovative solutions and stay ahead of the rapidly evolving tech landscape.

The Enthusiast

Beyond code, I appreciate Range Rovers (and more generally cars) and their vast range of capabilities. These vehicles blend luxury with remarkable off-road capability, evolving from practical origins to sophisticated SUVs while maintaining their adventurous DNA. Yes they have a reputation for breaking down, but in my experience they are remarkably reliable when well maintained.

From the classic to the modern Range Rover, each generation pushes boundaries while honoring heritage. They are massively over-engineered for what most people use them for, but they are built to last and perform in the most extreme environments.

The classic is a passion project, I bought a (seemingly) good condition late LSE. Aka it wasn't completely rotten! But on closer inspection it was in need of a lot of work. I will chronicle my journey restoring it. While the classic was off the road I decided to buy the most loved Range Rover of all time, the L322. Still owned by Jeremy Clarkson and Harry Metcalf. It is as modern as you need, but old enough to be mostly simple to work on.

The Person

Over the past 15+ years, I’ve built a career at the intersection of engineering and leadership, moving from hands-on coding into guiding teams through complex technical transformations. Along the way I’ve worked on everything from re-architecting platforms and scaling infrastructure to introducing AI-assisted workflows that improve developer experience and system reliability. What’s always mattered most is building technology that genuinely serves people, whether that’s customers, colleagues, or the wider community.

Alongside my full-time career in technology leadership, I also run Lynx Innovations, a consultancy focused on custom software development. It’s a space where I apply my experience to select projects, helping organisations solve hard problems with well-crafted, scalable solutions. Every project is different, but the approach is the same thoughtful design, pragmatic engineering, and a commitment to delivering software that lasts.

For me, technology is more than just a profession; it’s a passion. It’s about curiosity, creativity, and building tools that make life easier, businesses stronger, and ideas possible. That’s the philosophy I bring into every piece of work, from leading teams to writing code.
